JOURNEY TO SARGASSO SEA

This blog is for everyone who wants our Ohrid eel (Anguilla anguilla) to complete its journey to Sargasso Sea, which was interrupted 50 years ago by building dams on the River Drim. For this cause we made an project called JOURNEY TO SARGASSO SEA. This project consist of running 7400 km (distance between Ohrid-Macedonia and Hamilton-Bermuda) on training and races for about year and a half (time needed for an eel to complete it’s migration from Lake Ohrid to Sargasso Sea). The main purpose of this project is raising awareness about the problem and building fish passages at dams on River Drim in Macedonia and Albania.
