
Interview: Adrienna Forbes, Paper Ice Studio
How did the idea for your business come about?
Adrienna Forbes: I first became interested in Graphic Design at the age of 16. At 31, I decided to get my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. I started my business, Paper Ice Studio, while I was still in school, and I am now obtaining my Master’s in Internet Marketing
What is the significant difference your business brings to the market?
Adrienna Forbes: At Paper Ice Studio, we focus on the small business owners/entrepreneurs. I offer a lot of specials, as I feel that a small business’ success is directly related to their marketing and brand.
How did you decide on the location for your business?
Adrienna Forbes: In graphic design, anywhere that a laptop can be plugged in, is my office.
How important have good employees been to your success?
Adrienna Forbes: I am the owner and sole employee of my firm at the current time.
Describe/outline your typical day?
Adrienna Forbes: I work a full time job, and am a single parent. My early hours are focused on my Children and full time job. Evenings and weekends is when I do the majority of my design work. Sometimes I start a flyer, and in an hour it is complete, other times, a fly….
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
Adrienna Forbes: My most satisfying moment in business, is driving across or seeing my work in a store, and knowing that my business is helping another business be successful.
What has been your most successful form of marketing?
Adrienna Forbes: My most successful form or marketing has been Social Media Marketing
How do you build a successful customer base?
Adrienna Forbes: I am still working on building a customer base. Currently, I have created a Black Friday Campaign. In order to receive the $50 discount on holiday flyers, you have to enter your name and email address.
What kind of culture exists in your organization?
Adrienna Forbes: The culture of my business is professionalism. From initial contact, I focus on being professional. Sometimes, people do not take the “young woman” seriously, so I find that my first impression has to be a strong one.
Excluding yours- what company or business do you admire?
Adrienna Forbes: I admire companies like Apple, that started from a small idea and grew into what they are today.
Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?
Adrienna Forbes: I see my business offering additional services in the next 10 – 20 years. By then, I would like to offer printing, social media marketing packages, and motion graphic services.
